How To Stay Calm When Life Feels Like A Never-Ending Circus

by | Dec 21, 2024

So, life feels like a circus, does it? Aren’t you the observant one! First off, congratulations on the profound realization that we’re all unwilling performers in this ridiculous show. I hope you’ve at least picked a good costume, because trust me, it’s only going to get more absurd.

Now, you want to stay calm in the middle of this never-ending spectacle. Sigh, fine, let’s play along. But here’s your disclaimer: If you’re looking for actual calmness, you’re in the wrong tent, friend. Here, you’ll find more sarcasm than serenity. So, buckle up, because these tips are going to be as useful as a unicycle on a tightrope.

1. Adopt The Clown Mindset.

If life’s a circus, then embrace your inner clown. You’re not here to control anything–you’re here to trip over your own feet and honk a horn every time something goes wrong. When you spill your coffee on that brand-new shirt? Honk. Boss sends you 37 emails in an hour? Honk, honk. Make the chaos your comedy routine.

2. Meditate… Badly.

Sit down, cross your legs, close your eyes, and take a deep breath. Now, let every intrusive thought run wild. Like that time you tripped on the sidewalk in front of everyone? Think about it. The mountain of bills you haven’t paid yet? Bring it on! Let it all flood your mind until it’s a complete madhouse in there. Then, open your eyes and feel absolutely the same.

3. Create A ‘Life’s Circus’ Playlist.

Every circus needs a soundtrack. Make a playlist of songs that perfectly capture your chaos – you know, something dramatic, over-the-top, maybe some circus music for flair. Play it on full volume whenever you feel overwhelmed. Dance like the ringmaster you are. Everyone else is already watching the disaster that is your life–might as well give them a show.

4. Practice The “It Doesn’t Matter” Mantra.

Repeat after me: “It doesn’t matter.” It’s like those cheesy motivational mantras, except this one is way more honest. Boss mad at you? “It doesn’t matter.” Burned dinner again? “It doesn’t matter.” Someone cut you off in traffic? Scream “IT DOESN’T MATTER” so loud, the whole block hears you. Who cares? They’re all juggling flaming swords anyway.

5. Train Your Inner Lion.

In every circus, there’s a lion that’s just about ready to snap at the trainer. That’s you. Picture yourself as that lion. Every time life tries to poke you with a stick – deadlines, family drama, surprise dental bills – practice your best silent roar. You’re terrifying, but you can’t be bothered to even stand up. It’s the ultimate expression of calm rage.

6. Throw Glitter At Your Problems.

Because if life insists on being a circus, it might as well be a sparkly one. Every time something stressful happens, imagine covering it in glitter. Got a flat tire? Glitter. Forgot an appointment? Glitter. Late for work? Sprinkle that in a glitter storm. It won’t solve anything, but at least your problems will look fabulous.

So there you go. That’s how you “stay calm” in the circus of life. Or at least, how to laugh at the sheer absurdity of even trying. Now go on, you magnificent mess – juggle those flaming torches and honk that horn. And remember: calm is overrated. It’s way more entertaining to watch everything spin wildly out of control. Namaste.

About Rude Yogi
After spending way too long watching stupid people do stupid things, I have finally caved and started a blog to ramble about life’s endless parade of annoyances. All in all, I am just another disgruntled soul trying to make sense of this mess we call life. I'm not here to help you find your inner peace; I’m here to point out how laughably futile your quest for it is. Namaste.
